The 45th richest person in the world doesn’t just visit anywhere. Having recently been spotted touching down in Bodrum, Turkey, Prince Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has been on the move again. Faro in Portugal was next on the Saudi Princes travel itinerary, proving that the Algarve truly is a playground for the rich and famous.
So what brings a Prince whose worth over €18 billion dollars, fly’s in a private jumbo jet and travels with 300 suitcases for himself and his entourage to southern Portugal? The man who Forbes called “The World’s Shrewdest Businessman” has plenty of options in the Algarve. And one thing is for certain; wherever he goes it will be in the company of his private security team and the odd police escort.

Forget Monaco, Saint Tropez or Cannes, the Algarve is where it’s at when it comes to R&R for the glitterati. The fashionable Golden Triangle – which comprises Almancil, Vale do Lobo and Quinta do Lago – is a particularly popular spot, attracting celebs to its golden sand beaches and luxury property. Madonna is known to own a villa in the area that she regularly frequents, as does Ronan Keating. Ok so the former Boyzone singer might not be in the same financial league as Saudi royalty, but he’s just one of a number of stars who can’t get enough of the area – from Ant and Dec to Bonnie Tyley.
Let’s get back on track with some political and royal heavyweights. Former British Prime Minister David Cameron, his wife Samantha and their three children are known to have holidayed in the region. And even Prince Harry has been spotted enjoying himself under the Portuguese sun. So wherever Prince Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud chooses to stay and whatever he decides to do in the Algarve, he won’t be the only famous face on display this summer. But we have a funny feeling he will have the most euros in his bum bag.
